Overview Of The Port Of Tallinn

About Tallinn
Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia, in the Baltic region of North Europe. It is situated on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland.

Streets are mainly cobbled and quite uneven, there are a lot of steep hills and steps so comfortable shoes are a must.

Toompea Castle (Toompea Hill) dates back to the 13th century.

Alexander Nevski Cathedral was built in the late 19th century in the style of Russia's 17th-century Orthodox churches.

Toomkirk is the oldest church in Tallinn.

The Medieval Old Town's 14th century Town Hall Square is a central meeting place. It is lined by numerous cafes and winding streets, full of shops.

At the edge of Old Town there is a Flower Market.

Popular buys include handmade wool sweaters and glass art.

Around 30 minutes drive away is Kadriog. Built as a summer residence by Peter the Great for Tsarina Catherine, it is now a gallery of paintings and located in the midst of a gorgeous seaside park.

Pork, potatoes in a rich gravy often served with sauerkraut or other vegetables has been the traditional Estonian main course. Desserts include kissel (fruit soup) and mannavaht (a cream made of semolina and fruit juice). Rhubarb pies are also a favourite here.
