Overview Of The Port Of Soller

About Soller
Soller is a town and municipality near the north west coast of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands of Spain. The town is 3km inland, from the Port de Soller, in a large, bowl-shaped valley that also includes the village of Fornalutx and the hamlets of Biniaraix and Binibassi.

Two lighthouses sit on the headlands on either side of the bay, La Badia de Sóller.

The bay and the estuary of the river which comes to an end here attract little egrets, Muscovy ducks, huge flocks of herring gulls, Greylag geese and Mallard ducks.

The valley and its surrounding mountain range, the Serra de Tramuntana, is a favourite destination for visitors, especially those who enjoy walking, nature, ecotourism and swimming.

Soller has a unique charm with its grand, shady Plaza Constitución and small narrow streets. One of the main attractions is the journey on the historic train from Palma to Soller and a ride in the open trams connecting Soller with the harbour every 15 minutes.

The market in Soller is held on Saturdays. Plaza 13 Couture is a unique space selling designer fashions, local art and decorative items – including hand-painted furniture.

Soller is famous for delicious ice cream and an array of yummy flavours can be tried. The town is also renowned for producing and marketing local gourmet treats including extra virgin olive oil, local orange balsamic vinegar, chutneys, jams, preserves and pâtés.

The Port of Soller offers the only sandy beaches on the west coast of Majorca. This lovely little resort offers two beaches (Repic and Es Traves) along it's horseshoe bay, all with golden sands and clear blue seas. Both offer calm, shallow waters at the shore.

A promenade runs along the seafront where you'll find plenty of cafes and restaurants. The vintage Soller tram also runs along front every hour to add some old fashioned charm to the area.

'Langosta a la parrilla' (spiny lobster with local home made mayonnaise and the famous red Soller prawns are popular local dishes. Ensaimada is a spiral shaped yeast bun, eaten with coffee.
Cruise Terminal
Puerto de Soller is only a short tram ride away from the main town of Soller, which runs along the beach-side road.

A bus service links Soller to Palma, the capital of the island.
