About Prion Island
Prion Island is an island north-northeast of Luck Point, lying in the Bay of Isles, South Georgia in the south Atlantic Ocean.
Prion Island is home to the wandering albatross, South Georgia pipit and burrowing petrels. Access to the island is possible at various times of the year but restricted in order to protect the birds. A boardwalk has been built to make access easier for visitors and to protect the fragile vegetation on the island.
A limited number of visitors are allowed ashore at any one time and experienced tour guides must be present.
