About Port Lincoln
Port Lincoln is a city on the lower Eyre Peninsula in the Australian state of South Australia. It is situated on the shore of Boston Bay. The town claims to be the 'Seafood Capital of Australia'.

The Visitor Information Centre is opposite the Port Lincoln Post Office and is open 7 days a week (varying times).

The Axel Stenross Museum is filled with maritime history, relics and artefacts from windjammer days and has indoor and outdoor displays, including an operating slipway, historic vessels and a blacksmith shop.

There are two lookouts in Port Lincoln. The Old Mill Lookout was built as part of a mill complex, but now the tower offers good views of the city and the bay. The spectacular Winters Hill Lookout features superb views across Boston Bay towards Boston Island and beyond.

Boston Bay Wines on Lincoln Highway is open 7 days a week from 12-4pm for wine tasting and sales.

Visit local wildlife at Glen Forest Animal Park, located around a 15 minute drive from Port Lincoln.

The southernmost part of the Eyre Peninsula is protected by Lincoln National Park. The Flinders Monument on Stamford Hill has good views across the bay and here are several walking trails within the park.

The Parnkalla Walking Trail meanders around Port Lincoln’s coastline and offers sites of ecological and historical interest. Popular fishing spots, picnic and BBQ areas and sandy beaches can all be found along the trail.

Activities on offer include swimming with sealions or bluefin tuna, kite surfing, sailing, charter fishing or tee off at Port Lincoln Golf Club. For the more adventurous, have a go at shark cage diving.

Whalers Way offers visitors beautiful and spectacular coastal scenery, 14km of road is signposted with points of interest. It also passes through a Sanctuary area, inhabited by kangaroos and emus.

Koppio Smithy National Trust Museum is 36km from Port Lincoln and features a vast heritage collection including agricultural machinery, tractors and horse drawn vehicles.

Coffin Bay National Park is around 50km from Port Lincoln and offers good bird watching and remote coastal scenery. The bays and coastline around the park are also great for boating, sailing, scuba diving and windsurfing. The stunning northern beaches of the park are only accessible by 4 wheel drive but is a favourite destination for anglers, birdwatchers and surfers.

The main beach of Port Lincoln is around 1km from the port area.

The shopping here is extensive, offering everything from supermarkets and department stores to a myriad of speciality stores. Galleries and quality art and craft outlets also offer local products and souvenirs.

Seafood and fish are the main attraction on local menus including seasonal Western King Prawns and King George Whiting, Black Mussels and Bluefin Tuna as well as a good variety of meat, vegetarian and international favourites such as pizza and pasta.

Cruise ships dock at Port Lincoln, which is within 1km of the city centre (walkable).

Car hire and taxis are available and shuttle buses are usually on hand to take passengers into town.
