Overview Of The Port Of Salisbury Plain

About Salisbury Plain
Salisbury Plain is a coastal plain within the Bay of Isles on the north coast of South Georgia in the south Atlantic Ocean.

Salisbury Plain is a breeding area for many birds and mammals including king and gentoo penguins, light-mantled sooty albatross, snowy sheathbill, northern giant petrel, South Georgia pintail and elephant and fur seals.

There are strict landing requirements here, only smaller vessels (carrying 500 or less passengers) may anchor and no more than 100 visitors ashore at any time.

Visitors must stay to the guided walking and viewing areas so as to not disturb the wildlife.
Cruise Terminal
Smaller cruise ships may anchor and tender passengers ashore.

The landing areas are either the long gravel beach in front of glacial outwash plain or the beach at the foot of the headland lying 200m east of Start Point.
