Zadar

Zadar is a city in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. Croatia is at the crossroads of Central Europe, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean.

In the centre of the Old Town, you'll find souvenir shops, restaurants and money exchange.

The 'Greeting to the Sun' is located right next to the Sea Organ, it's a manmade, 300 glass plate circle, the solar modules inside work with light in the same way the Sea Organ works with sound.

There are many churches in Zadar including Saint Donat, a 9th century church which is a symbol of Zadar, the Benedictine monastery, Saint Anastasia's Cathedral (Katedrala Sv. Stosije) and Saint Anastasia's Cathedral (Katedrala Sv. Stosije). The Pillar of Shame is where criminals were chained in the Middle Ages.

In front of Saint Donat are the remains of the Roman Forum.

Pag Island is a 30 minute drive across a causeway and offers some good beaches.

Seafood dishes of the Dalmatian Coast include calamari, octopus, crab and scampi.

Cruise ships at Zadar's white concrete dock at the edge of Old Town.

At the dock you'll find the Morske Orgulje or 'Sea Organ', which is an architectural object which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps.

There's a nice walk from the sea organ along the Western Quay. The Old Town is around a 15 minute walk from the dock.
