About Willis Island
Willis Island is located beyond the Great Barrier Reef, in the Coral Sea, around 450km east of Cairns, Queensland in Australia.
Willis Island is only small – 500m long by 150m wide, the highest point being only 10m above sea level. The meteorological station was established in 1921, and usually is home to 3 or 4 people.

Island hopping, exploring the Great Barrier Reef and fishing are popular visitor attractions.
Due to its location so far out to sea, the island has constant 20kph winds.
