Overview Of The Port Of St Vincent
About St Vincent
St Vincent is the largest and most developed of the Grenadine Islands, in the southern Caribbean.
Places of interest include the Cathedral of the Assumption, which was only built in the 1930's but features a strange mix of styles including Moorish, Romanesque, Venetian and Byzantine. Fort Charlotte, an 18th Century fortress, stands above the town and offers some fantasic views.
About 10 minutes drive from the port area is the lush Botanic Gardens.
There are lots of opportunities for walking and hiking on St Vincent, information is available at the Tourist Information at the terminal.
Boat trips are offered from Kingstown, affording views such as sugar and banana plantations, rocky coves and the Falls of Baleine, where it's possible to swim in the rocky pool below the waterfall.
The national dish of St Vincent and the Grenadines is roasted breadfruit and fried jack fish. Seafood and fresh fish also feature heavily on menus.
