St Thomas

St Thomas is one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, located in the eastern Caribbean.

Charlotte Amalie is the capital of St Thomas and it offers plenty of shopping opportunities.

Within walking distance from the Havensight Pier is the Yacht Haven Grande Marina. Exit your ship and turn left to follow the dock around the harbour.

Places to visit include Fort Christian (on the waterfront, across from Vendor's Plaza), a national historic landmark that dates back to the 17th century and Haagensen House, an 1820s townhouse that's a museum and garden with a great gift shop selling antiques.

Coral World (located a taxi ride away at Coki Beach) is a 4.5-acre marine park with an underwater observatory with 360-degree views of fish and other sea creatures.

Magens Bay beach is a 20-minute taxi ride from the dock, it has a bar, includes a bar, a cafe and shop. Small admission fee is charged.

Dining is a good mix of local cuisine and international dishes.

Most ships berth at Havensight Dock, just over a mile from town. Occasionally ships might anchor in the bay and tender passengers straight into the centre of the capital, Charlotte Amalie.

There are more than 50 shops at the dock area including a post office, bank and pharmacy.

Though quite rare, individual taxis are highly unusual. In most cases, you'll share with others heading in a similiar direction. You'll pay a set price per person.
