Ravenna

Ravenna, sometimes referred to as the City of Mosaics, is the capital city of the Province of Ravenna in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, southern Europe.

Many of Ravenna's monuments are on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The Basilica San Vitale, Galla Placidia Mausoleum and Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe are some of the historical sights here.

Nearby places of interest include San Marino, Bologna, Florence and the museums of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Ducati.

The nearest beach is next to the port.

Local cuisine includes delicious homemade pasta with meat sauce, Cappelletti filled with parmesan cheese and cooked in chicken broth and traditional Piadina romagnola bread.

Ships dock at Porto Corsini, around a 20 minute drive from Ravenna.

Taxis are available and some cruise lines offer shuttle buses into the town.

Next to the cruise terminal is a beach and a small town (siesta is usually between 1-4pm).
