Puerto Limon

Puerto Limon is located on the east side of Costa Rica, in Central America.

A trip to Moin, which is around 3 miles away, is where you can hire a boat along the Tortuguero Canals.

Cahuita Coastal National Park, Rain Forest Aerial Tram as well as a two-hour Limon tour and an eight-hour trip to San Jose are some of the other trips on offer from the tourist information stand at the dock. Horse-riding, various watersports and canopy tours are also popular with visitors.

Souvenirs include locally made ceramics and wood carvings.

Local favourite dishes include 'casado' (rice, beans, beef, fried plantain, salad and cabbage), 'gallo pinto' (seasoned rice and beans with eggs, sour cream and a soft corn tortilla) and 'picadillo' (meat and vegetable stew).

Cruise ships dock in the busy cargo port at Limon. There is a tourist information stand and taxi information.

The centre of Limon is just a short walk away with a selection of shops, a museum, bank and park. The bus station is around 5 more minutes walk from the museum.
