About Praslin Island
Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles, lying 44km north-east of Mahé in the Indian Ocean.
Baie St Anne is the tiny capital and is where you will find shops, banks and the church. Good buys include straw items, coral jewellery, spices and wood carvings. It is located around 1.5km from the tender pier.
The beaches are the main tourist attraction, there are many to choose from including secluded stretches along the north and east coasts. Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette are two of note.
Various excursions can be arranged, from island tours to boat and diving trips.
Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve is a nature park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features a well-preserved palm forest made up of the endemic Coco de Mer, as well as other endemic palms and vanilla orchids, and wildlife such as the rare Seychelles Black Parrot, sunbird and Seychelles Bulbul.
Local dishes include lots of seafood options such as tuna, prawns and platters, to steaks and Creole curries and vegetables.
