Port Said is a city that lies in north east Egypt extending around 30km along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
Most visitors head to the Pyramids at Giza, the Sphinx and the Egyptian National Museum from Port Said. A visit to the Suez Canal is also a highlight. In Port Said itself there is the Military Museum and the old lighthouse, built in 1868.
For beaches, head across the canal to Port Fuad.
The best place to shop in Port Said is Sharia Palestine, which is dotted with shopping arcades, markets and restaurants.
Local dishes include seabream and 'burri' (grey mullet). 'Fuul' (a fava beans dish), 'falafel' (fried ball made from fava beans), kebabs, 'meloukhia' (a soup of leafy vegetables, duck or rabbit) and 'showirma' (lamb cooked on vertical splits, also known as gyros) are also popular on menus.

Cruise Terminal
The cruise terminal in Port Said is at the entrance of the Suez Canal. The town has some nice 19th Century buildings along its waterfront and outside are taxis and souvenir stands. The town itself is within walking distance.
