Philadelphia

Philadelphia, in the north east, is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the second largest city on the East Coast of the United States of America.

The Independence Visitor Center is a good place to brush up on history and obtain information on attractions in the area.

Independence Mall: The National Constitution Center chronicles all things related to the U.S. Constitution and features interactive exhibits.

Nearby, The Independence National Historical Park is home to Independence Hall. There are free tours of the East Wing, and the West Wing has a collection of founding documents.

The Liberty Bell is a symbolic Philadelphia classic.

The Old City features The National Museum of American Jewish History, the Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum and Christ Church, built in 1754. There is also a range of boutiques, art galleries and restaurants here.

At Penn's Landing, the Independence Seaport Museum displays numerous artefacts. The USS Olympia served in the Spanish-American War.

In the city centre, there is Chinatown and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, which showcases a collection of American masterpieces.

Rittenhouse Square: This urban park is surrounded by restaurants and boutiques.

For art lovers, you can visit the Franklin Institute Science Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Rodin Museum is right across the street.

A good place for families with children is the Philadelphia Zoo.

There are lots of dining options here, from Asian and American, to Seafood and Philadelphia's famous cheesesteak.

Cruise ships dock at the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal, Pier 1, located inside the Philadelphia Navy Yard. It was built in 1874 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are few services and no attractions right in the vicinity.

The Terminal is around a 15 minute taxi ride to the city centre and is within 1 mile of I-95 and I-76.

Once in Philadelphia, it's easy to get around. Taxis and city buses are plentiful.
