Parintins

Parintins is a city in the far east of the Amazonas state, Brazil in South America.

Every June, Parintins hosts it's famous Boi Bumba Festival, where thousands of visitors flock to the week long celebration.

A tour of the city will take you past the BumboDromo where the annual festival is held every year. Other sights of interest are the Cathedral of Parintins and the Parintins waterfront.

Shops and stores selling local merchandise are very near to the dock. Masks, handmade trinkets, beaded jewellery, paintings and woodwork made nice gifts.

Colourful boats selling crafts and souvenirs can be found at the Floating Market.

Some cruise ships advise their passengers not to dine locally as dishes may not be up to a high standard, however for the more adventurous there are a few small places which serve seafood and meat dishes.

Cruise ships dock in the centre of Parintins. Folklore presentations and dancers greet passengers disembarking.

There is a flea market near the end of the pier selling everything under the sun.

Pedicabs are available for journeys and tours of the town.
