About Manta
Manta is a mid sized city in Manabí Province, Ecuador in South America.
The Museo del Banco Central, Manta’s local museum has pre Columbian crafts and artefacts on display.
Other visitor attractions include Iglesia La Dolorosa, the 'Mirador' at San Lorenzo beach, the Teatro Chusic, the Parque de la Madre, and the Plaza Civica.
There are many beaches in Manta, these include 'El Murciélago' and 'San Lorenzo'. Playa Murciélago (Bat Beach) is very popular with locals and is located in the Malecón area. Here you will find a scenic boardwalk, restaurants serving excellent fresh seafood, sports, craft markets and bars.
The nearby small town of Montecristi was founded in the early 1600s and is a great place for shopping for local crafts such as ceramics, wickerwork and Panama hats.
Why not try either 'ceviche de pescado' or 'cazuela de pescado' - both dishes use fresh seafood as main ingredients.
