Overview Of The Port Of Manaus

About Manaus
Manaus is a city and the capital of the state of Amazonas in Northern Brazil, South America. It is situated at the junction of the Negro and Solimões rivers.

Places of interest include the The Teatro Amazonas (theatre) with it's tiled mosiac dome in the colours of the Brazilian flag, Museu do Seringal Vila Paraiso, Palacio Rio Negro and Palacete Provincial Museum.

Take a boat trip to Anavilhanas National Park or one of the many tours on the Amazon.

Manauara Shopping Centre has a good variety of shops, a cinema, and a food court in the basement with many stalls offering various food options.

Lake Janauari Ecological Park is a 9000 acre park, with dry and flooded forests and lowlands.

One of the most popular beaches here is the Ponta Negra beach, located adjacent to the Tropical Hotel.

Local dishes include 'tapioquinha', a pancake made from manioc starch, usually buttered and filled with tucumã palm fruit and farmer’s cheese, whilst 'tacacá' is an Amazon local soup.

Sugar cane juice is a favourite drink among locals.
