About Le Verdon
Le Verdon-sur-Mer is a commune in the Gironde department in Aquitaine in south-western France, western Europe.
There isn't much on offer in Le Verdon attraction-wise apart from walking and cycle trails.
Cordouan lighthouse, completed in 1611 is an active lighthouse located 7km at sea, near the mouth of the Gironde estuary. It stands 68m high and is the oldest lighthouse in France.
Most visitors head to Bordeaux via a ship excursion.
Highlights in Bordeaux include the Place de la Bourse (Place Royale), Grand Theatre (Opera National de Bordeaux), Grosse Cloche de Bordeaux, Porte Cailhau and Notre Dame Church (Eglise Notre Dame la Grande). Museums include Musee d'Aquitaine and Musee d'Art Contemporain.
Bordeaux is well known for red wine and one of the most celebrated dishes here is 'entrecĂ´te marchand de vin', which is rib steak in a rich gravy made from the famous wine, butter, shallots, herbs and bone marrow). There are also excellent hams, succulent lamb, terrines, pates and cheese as well as lots of fresh fish and seafood dishes to choose from.

Cruise Terminal
The Cruise ship dock at le Verdon is about 2 miles from the village and is not served by either bus or train. Most passengers opt for a ship excursion to Bordeaux.
