About Launceston
Lauceston is a city in north Tasmania, Australia.

Cataract Gorge is a rugged ravine and a major tourist attraction. It is home to the longest single span chairlift in the world.

Other places of interest include the City Park, National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, Franklin House, built in 1838, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery and Narawntpau National Park, home to Tasmanian devils, wombats and wallabies.

Activities on offer include golf, hang gliding, hiking, cycling and fishing.

There is a large selection of shops selling handmade items, clothing, antiques and gifts.

The Tamar Valley is home to some of Australia’s best vineyards, sample a glass or two whilst enjoying some of Tasmania’s fresh and local food including fresh seafood and beef. International options are also available, from Thai, Chinese and Italian, to Mexican and casual fast food eateries.

Smaller cruise ships may dock right in the centre of town. Larger vessels must anchor and tender passengers ashore.
