Hamilton

Hamilton is the capital of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda in the North Atlantic Ocean, located off the east coast of the United States of America.

Local attractions include the Bermuda Aquarium, Natural History Museum & Zoo, The Bermuda Arts Centre, Fort Hamilton, 19th Century fort and Crystal Cave.

Nearby beaches include Shelly Bay, which is shallow and shaded, Elbow Beach and Horseshoe Bay Beach.

Bermuda is a haven for golfers, there are many courses to choose from.

Front Street is the place to head for shopping, souvenirs include UK imports of cashmere jumpers and Harris tweeds, ginger beer, rum and Bermuda shorts.

Fish chowder is considered the national dish. Local fish dishes feature heavily on menus, such as mahi mahi, snapper, spiny lobster and tuna.

Smaller cruise ships dock in downtown Hamilton. You can walk right across to Front Street as you leave the ship, this is the main area of Hamilton, with shops, restaurants and attractions.

There is a public ferry terminal at the western end of Front Street. A direct ferry to the dockyard takes about 25 minutes. St George is also connected by ferry via the dockyard. The city has the main terminals for Bermuda buses.

If you're on a larger ship, you'll be docking at either King's Wharf or Heritage Wharf, at The Royal Navy Dockyard. A ferry from here to downtown Hamilton is available.
