Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale is a city in the state of Florida, in the United States of America.

It is easy to explore this city, water taxis are a great way of seeing the sights, there are 11 stops near popular hotels, shopping and beaches and day passes are available.

The Sun Trolley is another alternative, routes cover Las Olas Boulevard, the beaches and downtown.

For shopping, head to Las Olas Boulevard, which is a lively spot for shopping, dining and people watching. Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall 20 minutes west of the port, has more than 350 designer shops whilst the Galleria Mall, only 10 minutes from port, offers a more upscale shopping experience.

The Riverwalk is a 1½ mile stretch of boardwalk which links many of the city's historic and cultural landmarks.

Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens offers peace and tranquillity, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park has canoes for rent, guided Segway tours and hiking trails.

There are plenty of beaches, from the bustling Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood ones, to the quieter Lauderdale by the Sea and Dania beaches.

Fresh seafood, Caribbean influenced dishes and international fayre are all on offer here.

Cruise ships dock at Port Everglades, which handles all commercial shipping and is extremely busy. There are no shops or cafes here. As the port is located in an industrial area, taxis are the best bet for the 10 minute journey into town.

A new Royal Caribbean terminal has been built at Berth 18, to accommodate their Oasis Class ships.
