Charlottetown

Charlottetown is a Canadian city and the provincial capital of Prince Edward Island. It is located in the Gulf of St Lawrence.

The Confederation Centre of the Arts stages world class musicals including Anne of Green Gables.

Province House was built in 1847, and was the location of the conference on Canadian confederation.

St Dunstan's Basilica is over 100 years old.

Government House is a beautiful building and the location where the Fathers of Confederation met.

Port-la-Joye-Fort Amherst offers views of Charlottetown harbour and Northumberland Strait. There are lots of hiking trails and information on the history of Port-la-Joye Fort Amherst.

There are 2 shopping malls in Charlottetown - Confederation Court Mall (downtown, across from Province House) and Charlottetown Mall just out of town in West Royalty. Queen Street and University Avenue have more specialised shopping opportunities.

Restaurants offer many choices including fresh seafood, steaks, pizza, pasta and simple 'pub grub'.

Cruise ships dock right in the centre of Charlottetown.

Taxis wait at the pier and there is a car hire kiosk in Founders' Hall.
