About Beirut
Beirut is the capital and largest city of Lebanon, located on the Mediterranean Sea in Western Asia.

Beirut was called the "Paris of the Middle East" because of its vibrant outdoor cafe culture and European architecture.

Pigeon Rocks are a famous, natural feature of Beirut.

Jeita Grotto are underground caverns which can be explored by boat and on foot.

Beiteddine, a mountain village features a palace built by the Prince of Mount Lebanon.

The Statue of Harissa is set high in the mountains and can be accessed by car or cable car.

The Beirut Souks is a major commercial district in Beirut Central District. With over 200 shops and a department store, it is Beirut's largest shopping area. Souvenirs include satin slippers, wooden boxes and ceramics.

The Beirut Mezze is a group of up to 30 hot and cold dishes. These can include salad, soup, bread and local dishes such as Tabboule and Fattouch. Stews or soups served with bread and sides of rice or meats are family favourites here.
