Sun Princess

The Regency Dining Room is one of Sun Princess' two main dining rooms and offers guests traditional dining at either early (5.45pm) or late (7.45pm) sittings and set tables throughout the cruise. (Times may vary).

Open for waiter service breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea (from 3.30 to 4.30pm) and dinner, the Regency Dining Room is located on the Emerald Deck.

Breakfast is served from around 6.30 to 9am and offers a choice of continental and cooked options, whilst lunch is served on sea days from around 12 to 1.30pm.

Afternoon tea provides guests with finger sandwiches, cakes and pastries whilst for dinner there is a set menu of everyday options such as chicken, fish and signature pasta dishes and also a changing menu comprising of four courses of appetisers, soups and salads, main courses and desserts.

The second of Sun Princess' two main dining rooms is the Marquis Dining room located on the Plaza Deck.

Both MDR's have traditional dining where guests are allocated a set time and table for the duration of the cruise. A choice of two dining times is available. Early seating is at 5.45pm and late at 7.45pm (subject to change).

The menu in both restaurants offers the same dishes with just the décor of the two rooms varying.

The menu comprises of set options on one side including signature pasta dishes, salmon, chicken, beef and lotus spa healthy eating options whilst the other side changes and consists of appetisers, soups and salads, main courses and desserts.

Verdi's, located on the Dolphin Deck, midship, is open for lunch (from around 12 to 2.30pm) and dinner (6pm - 11pm).

It is Sun Princess' Pizzeria with sit down waiter service and is complimentary.

Verdi's menu comprises of individual Naples style pizzas as well as focaccia, salads, a small selection of pasta dishes and choice of desserts such as tiramisu.

Pizzas can't be taken out of the restaurant but can be order for a $3 surcharge via room service.

The Trident Grill, open from around 11am to 7pm, is situated outside the Horizon Court on the Lido Deck serves a range of burgers (including vegetarian), hot dogs, kebabs and fries.

Sundaes Ice Cream Bar serves free ice cream during the day whilst milkshakes occur a small charge.

It is located on the Riviera Deck outside the children's centre and opens from 11am to 6pm.

The Sterling Steakhouse, located within the Horizon Court on the Lido Deck, is Sun Princess' select additional charge restaurant (reservations recommended).

Open from 6.00pm to 10.30pm, guests can choose from a range of appetisers, soups and salads, seafood or steak and dessert.

The Horizon Court is Sun Princess' buffet style casual eatery serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Located forward of the Lido Deck, both continental style and hot breakfast is served from around 6.30am to 11.00am, lunch from 11.30 to 3.30 offering a carvery, sandwiches, salads and desserts as well as other options, and bistro style dinner from 5.30pm to 11pm.

Between 11.30 and 1.30 on some days a traditional British style pub lunch is served in the centre of the buffet with fare ranging from bangers and mash to steak and kidney pie or fish and chips.

It also has its own bar, dance floor and stage for entertainment both during and after meals.

La Patisserie is the ship's additional charge coffee house serving speciality coffees and fresh warm cookies (complimentary).

Coffee cards can be purchased for $29 plus 15% gratuity for 15 drinks, with a choice of cappuccino, espresso, lattes or mochas, saving 20% on normal prices.

It is located on the Plaza Deck by the Grand Plaza which offers a variety of entertainment throughout the day.

For passengers wishing to enjoy a romantic dining experience with breathtaking views from their own balcony, this special room service option is available for either breakfast (at $32 per couple) or dinner ($50 per head). (Prices subject to change).

Breakfast includes speciality pastries, fresh fruits, quiche, smoked salmon and other special treats served with half a bottle of champagne.

For dinner, personal dedicated wait staff serve a special dining experience on guests' stateroom balconies.

Dinner begins with a hosted cocktail party with fresh flowers and champagne followed by a deluxe four-course meal of appetisers, salad, main course such as lobster tail or juicy steak, rounded off by dessert.

The Chef's Table experience provides the chance to tour the ship's busy galley during dinner service, where the ship's executive chef previews the evenings menu with a selection of hors d'oeuvres and Champagne for guests to enjoy.

Guests are then taken to a private table in the main dining room to enjoy a specially created multi-course menu accompanied by selected wines to complement each course.

During the dessert course the chef re-joins the table to discuss the evenings menu and share their culinary knowledge.

Available for up to 10 passengers per night (which may include mixed groups), the experience can be booked either through the ships DINE telephone line or at the dining reservations table set up on the first night of the cruise.

The experience costs $95 per person and includes a complimentary copy of Princess' cookery book and photo taken at the private table with the chef.

Menus tend to be formed around regional specialities from a recent port visited and an example of one such menu includes (amongst other dishes):-

~ Shrimp margarita with Avocado and Mango
or Foie gras terrine on brioche

~ Asparagus risotto with lobster tail

~ Sangria granite

~ Trio of beef, veal and pork tenderloin
served with mashed potato, grilled
asparagus and charred cherry tomatoes

~ Baked Camembert with pine nuts and a port
wine reduction with walnut bread

~ Soft centre cake with marshmallows and
chocolate amaretto sauce

~ Coffee or tea and homemade amaretti
biscotti.

Passengers can make use of the complimentary room service ($3 charge for pizza delivery) at any time of the day or night. For continental breakfast (offering fruit juice, cereals, Danish pastries, croissants, egg, cheese and bacon breakfast muffin, hot beverages and fruit) guests can fill in the breakfast card and place it on their door at night.

With coffee, iced tea and milk available round the clock, food options range from sandwiches served with either fries, crisps or coleslaw, soups and salads, hot dishes such as lasagne and burgers, and sweets such as chocolate cake or cookies.
