Royal Caribbean’s complimentary year-round Adventure Ocean Programme is available for children aged 3 (who must be fully toilet trained) to 17. It is subdivided into different age groups called Aquanauts, Explorers, Voyagers, Navigators and Teens.

All children’s activities are supervised by male or female youth staff who have a 4 year University degree or international equivalent in Education, Recreation or a related field. All staff also have at least 3 – 5 years qualified experience in working with children ages 6 months - 17 years.

Aquanauts caters for children aged 3-5 years with activities such as story time, face painting, theatre, finger painting, Camp Aquanaut, building blocks, music activities, space night and animal, colour and shape bingo. The room also features a climbing area with a slide.

Aquanauts opens as follows:
At sea – 9 am to 5 pm; 7 pm to 10 pm.
In port – 30 minutes prior to first shore excursion to 5 pm; and 7 pm to 10 pm.

Children aged 6-8 years can join Explorers where activities range from conducting science experiments to learning how to make kites and sweets, pirate night, backstage tours, Nutty Nicknames, pyjama night, carnival games, model magic creations and talent Shows.

Explorers opens as follows:
At sea – 9 am to 5 pm; 7 pm to 10 pm.
In port – 30 minutes prior to first shore excursion to 5 pm; and 7 pm to 10 pm.

Voyagers provides entertainment for 9 to 11 year olds with a range of educational activities including science experiments, backstage tours and new sports like Gagaball. Other events taking place include karaoke, sports tournaments, List-o-Rama, Boys vs. Girls, Scavenger Hunts and Crazy Tag.

Voyagers opens as follows:
At sea – 9 am to 5 pm; 7 pm to 10 pm.
In port – 30 minutes prior to first shore excursion to 5 pm; and 7 pm to 10 pm.

The outdoor children's area is called Adventure Beach and is located aft of deck 12. It features a blue waterslide and pool. Children must be at least 46 inches (117cm) tall to use the slide, supervised at all times and able to swim and only one child is allowed down the slide at a time. The slide is only open for a limited number of hours each day and ends at its own exit at the side of the splash area.

The Pool itself has a large tiled splash area and a central small round pool with a depth ranging from 0.4m to 0.6m (2ft). There is also a very small slide which exits into the tiled splash area, separated from the rest of the pool by two model fish.

Children must be toilet trained to use the Adventure Beach pool area due to Health and Safety regulations (swim nappies are not permitted).

Accessed by guests SeaPass cards, the ships additional charge Video Arcade is where guests can enjoy a range of games from shooting arcade games to table hockey and Guitar Hero. It is located aft of deck 12. Arcade credits are loaded onto SeaPass cards (room keys), using cash at a recharging station.

The Adventure Ocean aft of deck 12 offers a spacious playroom with toys, books and games for children partaking in the kids clubs. Computers and video games as well as more traditional playthings and educational items provide entertainment for the youngsters enrolled in the Adventure Ocean Programme.

Between 5.00 and 6.00pm the area is available for open play area for families.

Aft of deck 12, the Royal Babies and Tots Nursery cares for children aged 6 months to 36 months, at an hourly rate of $8 per child. The nursery stocks a basic supply of essential childcare items, but parents need to bring nappies/diapers, bottles and milk, food, sippy cups and an extra set of clothes.

Whilst the children are in the nursery, parents are able to leave the ship for shore excursions.

For children aged 12-14 years (Navigators) and 15-17 years, activities include games and sports, parties and competitions. With their own space called the Optix Teen Disco, activities also take place in different locations throughout the ship.

Activities on offer range from family discos, pool parties and scavenger hunts to karaoke, Video Games, Nintendo© Wii ( for 12-14yrs), pool parties, DJ training, Battle of the Sexes, Casino Night, themed dance parties, Nintendo© Wii-Guitar Hero and movies ( for 15-17 years.)

Operational times for supervised teen activities for 12-14 year-olds are:
At sea – daytime activities vary; night time activities – 8 pm to 2 am.
In port – daytime activities vary; night time activities – 8 pm to 2 am.

At sea – daytime activities vary; night time activities – 9 pm to the early hours.
In port – daytime activities vary; night time activities – 9 pm to the early hours.

Teens may join adult activities with the exception of adult sports tournaments and the adult nightclubs.

Starboard of deck 12 and seating 23, teens aged from 12-17 have their own parent-free space, Optix, which is a lounge and private nightclub. Activities included meet-and-greet sessions, scavenger hunts, dance parties and sports sessions. A number of workstations are also available offering internet access at a reduced rate of$0.30/minute. Optix is not always attended by staff; with teens allowed to come and go on their own.

Optix is served by its own soda bar and features a resident DJ allowing teens to dance the night away.

Group sitting is available from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am in the Adventure Ocean centre. The cost for this service is $6/hour per child. Children attending must be at least 3 years old and fully toilet trained – no nappies or pull-ups are allowed.

On offer at certain times of the day within Adventure Ocean is the Pets at Sea shop where children can build their own soft toy with a selection of animals and outfits to choose from.

Babysitting Services (for children aged over 12 months) are available on Radiance of the Seas in either a group setting or individually in stateroom on. It must be booked at least 24 hours in advance at the Guest Relations Desk (deck 5 aft of the Royal Promenade).

A Royal Caribbean staff-member equipped with Fisher-Price toys and Mattel games will engage and entertain the youngsters until parents return at which point parents will be presented with a log of the child’s activities with the babysitter, including books read, games enjoyed, food consumed, and when the child was put to bed.

Available for a minimum of two hours, the charge is $19 per hour for up to three children within the same family.

Introduced fleet wide from March 2013, the Barbie™Premium Experience is available for girls aged between four and eleven and includes a Barbie stateroom; Tiaras & Teacups party; Mermaid dance class; Fashion Designer workshop and a Barbie Fashion Show. The premium experience costs $349.00.
