Norwegian Breakaway

Splash Academy, located centrally on deck 12 and 13, is Norwegian’s kid's program designed specifically to engage children aged 6 months – 12 years old.

Activities range from learning to juggle and tumble at circus school with Cirque du Jour presented by Hilario Productions and educational and fun arts & crafts projects; to age appropriate Wii™ games and a surround sound cinema.

Splash Academy is run by certified counsellors and is divided into four different age groups:

Guppies: 6 months - 2 yrs (at least one parent must remain with children in this age group)
Turtles: 3 - 5 yrs.
Seals: 6 - 9 yrs.
Dolphins: 10 - 12 yrs.

Norwegian Youth Staff are not permitted to change nappies/diapers or pull-ups and so if guest’s children are not toilet trained parents are given beepers or handy phone to alert them should their child need changing. Beepers and handy phones do not work ashore, so at least one parent will have to stay on board when their children are in the Youth Program.

Easily accessible to family friendly staterooms, the reception area for Splash Academy is accessed on deck 12 and as parents enter they will need to utilise Norwegian’s e-youth tablet-based electronic registration allowing them to swipe their keycard and input a password to sign in their children.

Just past the reception is the three to five year olds space decorated with vibrant colours, child sized furniture and wall mounted activities to keep them occupied in between organized programmes.

A separate area is allotted to 6-9 year olds featuring building block activity centres, an interactive dance mat with large video screen, video game stations and a relaxing video viewing lounge.

Upstairs on deck 13, 10 to 12 year olds have their own space including a multipurpose visual dance space with touch screen jukebox, tables for activities, beanbags for relaxing and an activity zone including everything required for arts, crafts and more. There is also an area to hang out with gaming stations and a cool and comfortable lounge area with sofas and chairs.

Norwegian Breakaway also has a dedicated nursery area where parents and children, ages 6 months to 2 years, can enjoy quality time playing and interacting in a stimulating and comfortable environment.

Splash Academy’s hours are (subject to change):

Embarkation Day: 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Port Days: Departure from Port to 10:30 pm
Sea Days: 9:00 am – 10:30 pm

The tropical Kid’s aqua park midship of deck 15 features a shallow pool perfectly sized for children and small kid friendly slide along with multiple water features including colourful and larger-than-life figurines of SpongeBob, Squidward and Patrick that squirt and shower guests.

Children must be toilet trained to use the area (no swim nappies/diapers are permitted) and all under 12’s must be supervised by adults at all times.

Norwegian Breakaway also has a dedicated nursery area forward of deck 16 where parents and children, ages 6 months to 2 years, can enjoy quality time playing and interacting in a stimulating and comfortable environment. With soft play equipment, children can also enjoy painting and crafts using the special paints and crayons made from natural vegetable materials making them entirely safe for inquisitive babies and toddlers who may put them in their mouths.

The Kid’s Area, forward of deck 16 features a small splash area with a gigantic overhead shower and colourfully decorated with a large frog, colourful balls and circus tent backdrop.

Entourage is Norwegian’s program for teens ages 13-17. Activities on offer range from sporting activities including basketball and football to theatre or fashion workshops, pool parties and themed events such as a vampire scary movies night.

The Entourage Teen Lounge, located aft of deck 16 is dedicated to 13 to 17 year olds and includes air hockey, foosball, an arcade centre with five separate areas featuring large screens to play the latest video games whilst lounging on comfy sofas.

In the evening the lounge transforms into a teens-only nightclub with a dance floor, large screen television and video jukebox.

The lounge is ideally placed for access to the ship's video arcade and the complimentary Breezeway Bar and Grill serving grilled favourites from chicken to burgers.

Nickelodeon™ at Sea features activities which include the all new pyjama Jam Character Breakfast, Dora’s Dance Party where children have the chance to sing and dance to their favourite songs with Dora the Explorer and Team Nick; Nickelodeon™ Character Meet and Greet; Nickelodeon™ Arts and Crafts and Story Time with Dora.

Nickelodeon™ will also feature on the main stage with entertainment for all the family, and Splash Mobs adding an element of surprise with impromptu games with pies, slime and other surprises.

Nickelodeon™ characters and themed activities also feature in the Splash Academy.

Special Nickelodeon™ Character Breakfasts are additional charge of around $15 per adult, $10 for 4 to 12 year olds and free for under 3’s (subject to change).

Norwegian offers Port Play when the ship is docked in port which is a complimentary group-sitting program for children aged 3-12 years old. A minimal fee ($6 per child/per meal) is charged during meal times. Port Play is run by the Youth Staff in the Splash Academy Facility and parents are advised to sign up in advance due to limited places.

Overnight In Port: Arrival in Port – 8 pm

Between 10.30pm and 1.30am, Norwegian Breakaway provides the “Late Night Fun Zone”, a group-sitting service for children ages 3-12 years old run by the Youth Staff in the Splash Academy Facility.

Parents are advised to sign up in advance due to limited availability and if no children are signed up or dropped off by 11:30pm, the youth centre closes for the evening.

The Late Night fee is charged to guest’s on-board account. A 15 minute transition time is offered before charges apply from Splash Academy to Late Night.

Charges for the late night fun zone are $6.00 per hour per child and $4.00 per hour per child for each additional sibling (hours and cost are subject to change).

No private or in-room babysitting is available on any of Norwegian's ships.

The Spider Web is a 24-foot enclosed climbing cage for kids to scale complete with a spiral slide and can be found within the sporting complex aft of deck 17.

A supervised Bungee Trampoline is located aft of deck 17 within the ship's sports complex.

The ship's 24 hour video arcade aft of deck 16 features a range of entertainment from racing and shooting games such as Dream Raiders to air hockey and grab machines.

Charges apply and are credited directly to guests on board accounts via their stateroom key card. A drinks vending machine is also located within the arcade.
