About Vancouver
Vancouver is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada.

Gastown, where Vancouver begins is only a short walk from Canada Place cruise terminal.

Souvenirs include B.C. ice wine, gourmet food items at Granville Island market, artwork and hand carved masks from a local gallery.

The Big Bus is a narrated tour of downtown Vancouver lasting 90 minutes, passengers can hop on or off at 22 stops along the route at any time.

The Aquabus and the False Creek Ferries stop at numerous locations including the Maritime Museum in Kitsilano, Granville Island and Science World. Car hire is available in the city if you want to explore further afield.

Vancouver's Chinatown is the second biggest in North America. For lots of speciality shops, head to Pender and Keefer Streets.

Stanley Park is surrounded by a 5½ mile paved seawall. Take the free shuttle around the park stopping at numerous locations such as the Vancouver Aquarium. There is also a children's water park, a display of totem poles by First Nations artists, beaches and picnic areas.

The Vancouver Art Gallery has both a permanent and ever changing collection of exhibits on display.

On Granville Island watch artists at work glassblowing, making pottery and jewellery. You will also find a Maritime Market and the famous public market with an assortment of colourful stalls, showcasing local, homemade products.

The Yaletown neighbourhood is home to fashionable boutiques and local designers, high-end restaurants and galleries.

The Kitsilano neighbourhood overlooks English Bay with a park, beach and spectacular outdoor swimming pool.

Located in North Vancouver, the Capilano Suspension Bridge spans 450ft across a canyon at a height of 230ft above the Capilano River. The Treetops Adventure, offers the chance to venture from one tree to another on a series of elevated suspension bridges. Cliffwalk takes visitors on walkways along the granite cliffs overlooking the river.

The Sky Ride at Grouse Mountain is a passenger tram taking visitors up 3,700ft in 8 minutes. Apart from the view, you can also visit the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife, a mountaintop habitat home to orphaned grizzly bears.

Sports activities include kayaking, cycle trails, canoeing and river rafting.

The Vancouver Maritime Museum is located by Vanier Park and has numerous exhibits of interest for all the family.

The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre within Vanier Park is part observatory, part interactive educational fun. Visitors can use an interactive simulator that mimics the experience of flying and docking the space shuttle at the International Space Station.

Science World features interactive exhibits, the building looks like a giant golf ball, as it was the home of Expo 86.

The Bloedel Floral Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park is a huge bubble dome filled with exotic plants, tropical flowers, Koi fish and more than 100 bird species which fly free.

There are many lovely beaches in the area including the popular Spanish Banks, which stretches along the west coast of Vancouver and English Bay beach, on the edge of Stanley Park.

Local specialities include locally caught mussels, oysters, salmon, Dungeness crab, lobster and prawns. Dim sum and plenty of fast food eateries are also popular options.
Cruise Terminal
Most cruise ships dock at Canada Place, the cruise terminal is only a short walk from the centre of Vancouver.

The lesser used Ballantyne Pier is a 10 minute drive east of the city centre and either a taxi or shuttle bus is recommended to take you into the city as it's location is in an industrial area.

There is a Tourism Vancouver Infocentre inside both cruise terminal buildings. Five blocks from Cananda Place is Robson Street, full of boutiques and restaurants, the Pacific Centre shopping mall is located nearer the terminal.

For a 360 degree, unobstructed view of the city, take the glass lift to the top of the Harbour Centre Tower, a few minutes walk from Canada Place.
