About Ubatuba
Ubatuba is city in Brazil, South America, located on the southeast coast, in the state of São Paulo.

Ubatuba is considered as the "Surf Capital of São Paulo State", more than ten important surf contests are held off its beaches every year.

Ubatuba has over 100 beaches, these include Maranduba, Lázaro, Vermelha, Enseada and Saco da Ribeira. There is also a nice beach promenade for strolling.

The pier is a busy place with bars, restaurants, gift shops and banks.

Project Tamar is a marine park created to protect sea turtles.

There are over 565 bird species here which makes the area popular with birdwatchers.

Anchieta Island State Park is a protected area filled with many bird and animal species including capuchin monkeys, marmosets, raccoons, skunks, lizards and lots of snakes. In the waters surrounding the island shoals of mullet, mackerel, sardines, flying fish and turtles can be found. Hiking and the seven beaches here draw visitors to the island, which is accessible via a boat trip.

Prumirim Waterfall is 19km north of the city centre. It is actually a sequence of waterfalls, surrounded by rainforest. Easy access via a short trail from the Rio-Santos road.

Other local attractions include the Automobile Museum (Museu do Automóvel), Museu Caiçara, with exhibits of items produced by the traditional caiçara communities, Serra do Mar National Park and Ubatuba Aquarium.

There are many tourist-oriented shops located at Rua Guarani and the north part of R. Leovegildo Dias de Oliveira, in front of the Itaguá beach.

Popular dishes in Ubatuba include locally caught mussels and 'peixe azul marinho', blue marine fish served with 'pirão de banana verda', a dish made with manioc flour and green bananas.
