About Stornoway
Stornoway is a town on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland in the United Kingdom. It the largest town in the Western Isles.

Local and nearby attractions include the Blackhouse museum, which is a recreation of a traditional blackhouse in western Lewis, Dun Carloway, a well preserved Iron Age broch (Iron Age drystone hollow-walled structure), Shawbost Norse Mill and Kiln, a reconstructed Norse mill on west side of Lewis and Loch na Muilne RSPB Reserve, a small coastal nature reserve.

Steinacleit Cairn and Stone Circle are the remains of an enigmatic structure of early prehistoric date.

Callanish Standing Stones are actually older than Stonehenge and are found on a headland overlooking part of a huge sea loch. There are 53 pale grey stones in a cruciform shape and within the heart is a central circle of 13 tall stones where excavations uncovered a chambered tomb with human remains.

The Western Isles Museum in Stornoway has some great historical exhibitions.

Lewis Looms, located in the Old Grainstore overlooking the inner harbour in Stornoway is the place to find some tweed clothing.

Lews Castle is a Victorian era castle located west of the town of Stornoway. It was built between 1847-57 as a country house for Sir James Matheson. It now features a museum and cultural centre.

A famous local delicacy is Stornoway Black Pudding. Other popular local dishes include salmon, beef and scallops.
Cruise Terminal
Most cruise ships will anchor and tender passengers to an 18m pontoon on the East Side of No 3 Pier for transfer to the quayside. The Pontoon connects to the main pier deck via a 27m bridge.

It is only a short stroll to the centre of town from here.
