About St Raphael
St Raphaël is a town in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in south-eastern France, western Europe.

The old town, called the "village district" is full of old villas from the 18th/19th centuries. See local monuments and landmarks such as Napoleon’s Pyramid, Notre-Dame de la Victoire Basilica, Félix Martin Memorial and Alphonse Karr Monument.

Have a look around the 12th century Romanesque church, which also houses the archaeological museum. or climb to the top of the tower to enjoy superb views over the bay.

Jardin Bonaparte garden overlooks the bay and the port. In the centre there is a square with a children’s playground.

Stroll along the beautiful seafront promenade, head to the Vieux Port and watch the fishermen at work.

Visitors can enjoy attractive shops or head to the farmers’ markets for fresh flowers, fresh fruit and homemade cheeses.

Venture into the hills of the Esterel massif to see the local flora and fauna.

St Raphael gives you easy access to upmarket St Tropez, the hotspot for the world’s elite.

The beaches stretch between the old port in the centre and the newer Port Santa Lucia, with lots of watersport opportunities such as sailing, kayaking and windsurfing. Dramont beach is a favourite with families.

There are 4 international golf courses in the area.

Nearby attractions include Village des tortues (tortoise village) and Jardin zoologique, bird and botanical garden with a collection of tropical birds, plants and animals.

Local dishes include 'pissaladière' (onion tart covered with anchovy filets and black olives), 'socca' (crepe), 'salade niçoise' (anchovies, tuna, tomatoes, green peppers, celery, hard boiled eggs, black olives) and ratatouille.

Cruise ships mainly use the Port Santa Lucia, which is 1.5km from the centre of town.

The Old Port in the centre of town is currently being redeveloped to include access for yachts, a new fisherman’s market, restaurant, shops and an underground car park.
