About St Pierre and Miquelon
St. Pierre and Miquelon is a self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France, situated in the north-western Atlantic Ocean near Canada.

Museums include L’Arche, which houses both the Archives and the museum of the Territorial Collectivity of St. Pierre et Miquelon, the Heritage and the Museum of Miquelon.

Take a boat tour of Sailors Island or Langlade and Miquelon.

Between June and September, whale watching trips are available.

Guided walks can be arranged, taking in the "Valley of the Seven Ponds" (St. Pierre), "The Cape" (Miquelon) and Grand Barachois (Miquelon and Langlade).

Every year in the summer there is a Basque Festival, with demonstrations of stone heaving, lumberjack skills and pelota (ball sport).

Ice hockey is very popular in St. Pierre and Miquelon, with local teams often competing in Newfoundland-based leagues.

The only time the guillotine was ever used in North America was in St. Pierre in the late 19th century. The guillotine is now in a museum in St. Pierre.

French cuisine is the main choice here, along with fresh seafood (scallops, lobster, snow crab, cod, mussels and monkfish). There is a Seafood Festival held in Miquelon every year in mid-August.
