Overview Of The Port Of Sokhna

About Sokhna
Sokhna or Ain Sukhna, is a town in Suez Governorate, Egypt, lying on the western shore of the Red Sea's Gulf of Suez. It is located around 120km east of Cairo.

St Anthony's Cave goes back to the time of the first desert hermits who Christianized Egypt. Two Christian monasteries are found in this area - St Paul's and St Anthony's.

The beaches are one of the most popular attractions here. Some resorts allow non-guests access to their beaches.

Sailing, sports fishing and snorkelling are popular activities in the area.

Cairo is just over an hour away and many visitors head here from this port. A guided tour is the best option, as they will get you around the sights and back in time for your cruise departure.

Local handicrafts such as jewellery, pottery and leather items make good gifts.

There are two indoor bazaars here, located at the Porto Sokhna Resort and the Movenpick Resort.

Dining options range from expensive to popular American fast-food chains as well as seafood, pizza and steaks.
