About Skjolden
Skjolden is a village in the municipality of Luster in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway in Scandinavia. It is located at the end of the Lustrafjord, a branch of the Sognefjord.

In the Jostedalsbreen National Park, view the largest glacier in mainland Europe at close range, and take a guided walk on the blue glacier ice.

The Jotunheimen National Park and the mountains surrounding the fjord are perfect for short walks, mountain hikes, climbing and skiing.

The national tourist route across the Sognefjell mountain area between Luster and Lom, is the highest and most impressive mountain pass in Northern Europe. The Sognefjell Mountain Route is the main gateway to the Jotunheimen National Park - Norway’s highest mountains, and has been awarded the status of National Tourist Route because of the spectacular and wild mountain scenery it passes through.

Urnes Stave Church, built around 1130 AD is Norway's oldest stave church and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Feigumfossen Waterfall has a 218m free fall and is one of the highest waterfalls in Norway.

Sogn Folke open air museum at Kaupanger shows us how life was lived along the Sognefjord.

Munthehuset (the Munthe House) is a more than 200 years old and has played a key role in the history of art, cultural life and in the building of Norway as a nation in the 19th century.

There are many activities in the area including walking, skiing, horse riding, rafting and fishing.

There are also many tours available such as historic walks, helicopter flights and glacier lake kayaking.

Traditional Norwegian dishes include fresh seafood and fish (cod, salmon, trout), 'fiskesuppe' (fish soup), 'sursild' (pickled herring), 'kjøttboller' (meatballs) and 'svinekoteletter' (pork chops).

The centre of Skjolden is around 700m away, the walk into town will take you past the marina, an art gallery and a restaurant.

There is also a tender pier at Skjolden Brygge, next to the small cafe and art gallery. Ships can anchor just 500m away from the tender quay, the centre of town is only 100m away.
