Overview Of The Port Of Salaverry

About Salaverry
Salaverry is a port town located in the La Libertad Region, Peru in South America.

Salaverry has a number of shops offering souvenir, handicrafts and art pieces made by local artists. Trujillo’s shopping districts are in Pizzaro and Ayuchucho.

Visitors can enjoy the various colonial mansions, the cathedral and the city hall in Plaza Armas.

Around 15 minutes south of Trujillo lie the Sun Temple (Huaca El Sol) and the Moon Temple (Huaca La Luna) archaeological sites.

The excavated Chimu city of Chan Chan is also a popular day trip.

Other options include the El Brujo Archaeological Complex, an ancient monument of the Moche culture and the Archaeological Museum of the National University of Trujillo.

There are beaches near both Salaverry and Trujillo.

Ceviche (raw fish marinated in citrus juice) is hugely popular in Peru as is 'lomo saltado' (stir-fry with beef, vegetables and fried potatoes).
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships dock at the Port of Salaverry, which is around 17km from the city of Trujillo, where most visitors head to.

Taxis are available outside the port gates but be wary as they will sometimes try and persuade you to go places of their choosing and are likely to overcharge. A ship excursion may be the best option.
