Overview Of The Port Of Roseau

About Roseau
Roseau is the capital of the island of Dominica. Dominica is located between Guadeloupe and Martinique, in the eastern Caribbean.

Nearby places to visit include the Dominica Museum, close to the port, the Old Market for a taste of authentic Dominica and the Botanical Gardens, on the north east edge of town.

Trafalgar Falls in the rainforest is a popular trip along with the strenuous hiking trail to Boiling Lake, used as a fitness test by the Dominican Army.

Dominica's national dish is the Mountain Chicken - a native giant frog, which is protected and can only be caught between autumn and February.

Creole food is everywhere including callaloo soup, made from the tender central leaves of the dasheen plant.
Cruise Terminal
There are two docks where ships may berth, Roseau in the south west and Portsmouth in the north. There are taxis and small buses which stop and drop off passengers on request.

Within easy reach of the terminal at Roseau, there are numerous shops and markets, selling a wide range of local like rum, baskets, wood carvings and scented soaps.

The dock is around half a mile north of Portsmouth. The centre offers limited shopping opportunities. It is an hour's journey to Roseau from here.
