Overview Of The Port Of Rorvik

About Rorvik
Rørvik is a port village in the municipality of Vikna in Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway in Scandinavia. It lies on the eastern side of the Vikna archipelago on the island of Inner-Vikna.

The area is popular with nature lovers as it has many species of birds and fish. Vikna's landscape is full of fjords, coves and almost 6,000 islands, islets and reefs and is home to five different protected areas.

Rørvik is the crossing point of the northbound and southbound postal shipping line "Hurtigruten".

NORVEG is a cultural centre and museum of coastal life. It is situated directly by the water and its sail-like roof fits with the theme of it's maritime location and seafaring traditions. Don't miss the Ice Age Gallery here.

The heritage listed ship MS Lofoten, built in 1964 is located in the south of Rorvik.

To learn about Norwegian culture, visit the Kryst Culture Center which shows the life of the fishermen 10,000 years ago.

Activities here include fishing (licence required), kayaking, diving, canoeing and hiking.

Pottery, knitwear and woven items, woodcarvings, silver, enamel and porcelain goods can be found in the various stores in town.

Local dishes includes salmon, 'lutefisk' (dried cod), 'lefse' (flat bread) and 'brunost' (brown goats cheese).
