Overview Of The Port Of Puerto Princesa

About Puerto Princesa
Puerto Princesa is a city located in the western provincial island of Palawan, Philippines, South East Asia.

The Tubbataha Reef is an atoll coral reef and a Natural Marine Park comprising two huge atolls (the North Atoll and South Atoll) and the smaller Jessie Beazley Reef. It is considered as one of the best dive sites in the world.

Take a tour of the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a protected area located around 50km north of Puerto Princesa.

Ugong Rock is a limestone rock formation located at Baranggay Tagabinet, about an hour or so from Puerto Princessa. It is on the way to the Underground River and tours may stop here first. The Rock stands about 75ft high and you can climb through caves and crevices. The usual hiking gear is recommended. It is possible to zip line your way down from the top, however the same route is taken back down should you not prefer this option.

Honda Bay is on the eastern shore of Palawan. Boats trips can be taken to nearby islands and the area is popular for snorkelling.

Other places of interest include the Palawan Special Battalion WW2 Memorial Museum, Palawan Heritage Centre, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm and the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

For shopping opportunities, head to Robinson's Place Mall or the market place near to the dock area. Kaingud Arts and Crafts specialises in one of a kind local handmade crafts and jewellery, lamp shades, mirrors, wind chimes, wood carvings and instruments.

The staple food in the Philippines is rice. Popular dishes include 'lechón' (whole roasted pig), 'torta' (omelette), 'kaldereta' (meat in tomato sauce stew), 'puchero' (beef in bananas and tomato sauce) and 'kare-kare' (oxtail and vegetables cooked in peanut sauce).

Asian, Italian, American and European options can also be found.
