Overview Of The Port Of Puerto Chacabuco

About Puerto Chacabuco
Puerto Chacabuco is a town in the Aisén commune and is located at the head of Aisén Fjord in Chile, South America. It is the main port of the region.

The town here is very small, many visitors head to either Puerto Aysen (10 miles) or Coyhaique (38 miles away).

A stop here is an opportunity to explore nature and different landscapes. Shopping is very limited, you may however find some local handicrafts on offer or take home some Chilean wine.

A good way to see the flora and fauna of the area is to hike along the river and through the forest in Parque Aiken Del Sur.

Rio Simpson National Reserve is 23 miles west of Coyhaique. Here you will see waterfalls, beaches, valleys, canyon rivers and forests. The Patagonia museum is also in Coyhaique.

Take a scenic drive to visit the quaint town of Puerto Aysen, passing some dramatic landscape along the way.

Sporting activities include fly fishing, kayaking, sailing and canoeing.

Examples of Chilean cuisine include 'caldillo de almejas' (clam stew), 'crudos' (similar to a steak tartar) and 'empanadas de horno' (stuffed baked pastry, filled with meat and onions).
