Overview Of The Port Of Port Denarau

About Port Denarau
Port Denarau is located on Denarau, a Fijian Island in the South Pacific Ocean. It is attached to the mainland by a causeway, around 10 minutes from Nadi.

There are lots of shops around a small square in Port Denarau, where you may see local folk dance demonstrations.

Next to the port there is a park with winding lagoons and a circle road taking you to all of the different hotels & beaches.

Facing the waterfront, you will find little cafes and restaurants.

For an authentic shopping experience with locals, head to Nadi Market.

Nadi's bustling Main Street is the place for souvenir shopping. Handicrafts such as pottery and wood-carved items as well as bula shirts, similar to Hawaii's aloha shirt and colourful saris are popular souvenirs.

Nadi is a religious centre for Muslims and Hindus. The city's major Hindu place of worship is Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple. Visitors are welcome but are asked to remove their shoes and not take pictures.

The Garden of the Sleeping Giant is filled with native plants and several dozen varieties of Asian orchids and cattleya hybrids. Walking trails take you through forested hillsides, streams and ponds.

Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park is an ideal spot for a hike. Afterwards, take the easy trail through a mahogany forest.

Kula Ecopark wildlife sanctuary in nearby Korontogo, is home to a number of species including hawksbill sea turtles, Kadavu parrots, owls and fruit bats.

Natadola Public Beach offers soft white sand and lovely blue waters perfect for snorkelling. (Note: currents here can create a strong undertow).

Half day snorkelling, fishing and sailing trips are also available from Port Denarau Marina, on board a 37ft catamaran.

Chinese, Fijian and Indian cuisine as well as local dishes such as 'kokoda' (ceviche of raw fish marinated in lime juice and coconut cream), Indian curry with rice and 'dhal' (lentil soup) are available. Kava is Fiji's national drink.
