About Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is located on the north east coast of Mexico.

Popular excursions include Tulum, the ancient remains of a Mayan city and the Xcaret Eco Theme Park, a 200 acre park dedicated to animals, nature and Maya culture.

5th Avenue is a pedestrian only street packed with numerous shops and restaurants and runs parallel to the beach.

The beaches in Playa del Carmen are renowned for their white sand beauty. There is a central stretch of beach starting near the ferry dock. All of Playa del Carmen's beaches are open to the public, but some may have restricted access due to private property. There are numerous beach clubs with loungers, restaurants and bars as well as watersports equipment rental. Admission is usually free, as long as you buy food and drinks.

Local dishes include seafood, tacos and 'pozole' (pork stew).
