About Palamos
Palamós is a town in the Mediterranean Costa Brava, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain.

Passeig del Mar is the beachfront promenade, which goes around the bay for more than 2 miles.

The Fishing Museum presents the past, present and future of fishing with a permanent exhibition and programme of activities associated with fishing and the sea along the Costa Brava.

The main shopping streets are Carrer Major (pedestrianised), Carrer Cervantes and Avinguda 11 Septembre. Good buys include perfume, jewellery and wine.

Walking north from the port, past the Marina there is a footpath that takes you to some beautiful beaches and rocky coves. La Fosca beach is around 2km away. Continue further and you will reach the unspoilt Platja Castell. The nearest beach however, is right near the port.

Barcelona and Girona are possible day trips from here.

Nearby Figueres is home to the Salvador Dali Museum.

Popular dishes in the Costa Brava region include 'pollo con cigalas' (chicken with crayfish), 'albóndigas con sepia' (meatballs with cuttlefish) and 'paella and caldereta' (fish stew).

Palamos is known for it's exquisite prawns and Pa amb tomàquet (bread rubbed with tomato and olive oil) is another well known dish of the region.

Cruise ships dock near to the centre of town. It is possible to walk from the port, however there is usually a bus service provided should you need it.
