Overview Of The Port Of Olbia

About Olbia
Olbia is a town in the north eastern part of Sardinia, Italy. It is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Castello di Pedres dates back to the Middle Ages.

The Basilica of San Simplicio is a church built in the late 11th century on a short hill, once located outside the city's walls, used since the Carthaginian times as a cemetery area.

National Archaeological Museum of Olbia is characterised by a grand central patio in which there are some recently discovered Roman ships and a series of places, such as the library, auditorium and congress centre.

Isola Rossa, once a fishing village, is now a lively small resort, with two good sandy beaches, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants and good access to the mountain countryside of the northern interior.

The Costa Smeralda is a coastal area and tourist destination in northern Sardinia, with white sand beaches, a golf club and expensive hotels.

The main towns and villages in the area include Porto Cervo, Liscia di Vacca, Capriccioli and Romazzino. Li Muri “Tomba dei Giganti” (Giants’ Grave) is a nearby archaeological site.

Each September the Sardinia Cup sailing regatta is held off the coast. Polo matches are held between April and October at Gershan near Arzachena. Other attractions include a film festival in Tavolara and a vintage car rally.

Souvenirs include ceramics, basket ware, sweet Malvasia dessert wines, olive oil, pecorino cheese, mountain honey and torrone nougat.

Local dishes include 'zuppa gallurese' (cheese dish), skewered grilled or spit roasted meat, freshly made bread and roast suckling pig.
Cruise Terminal
The cruise port is divided into 3 main areas: Cocciani Port, Isola Bianca’s wharf and the Internal Port. The Maritime Station (Cruise Terminal) is located on Isola Bianca’s wharf.

There is a restaurant and snack bar at the terminal.

The terminal is around 2km from the centre of town. It is possible to walk or take the shuttle service usually available.
