About Nuuk
Nuuk is the capital and the largest city in Greenland which is located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

Greenland's National Museum and Archives feature kayaks and women's boats, amulets, costumes and the famous mummies from Qilakitsoq.

Nuuk Museum of Art and working workshop, contains more than 300 pictures and around 400 figurines made from teeth, wood and soapstone.

Greenland's Culture House, Katuaq, focuses mainly on contemporary art through exhibitions, theatres, performances and a cinema.

Take a whale sightseeing tour for the chance to see humpback, minke and fin whales.

Mountain hiking is popular in the summer months, a hike to Nuuk's landmark of Sermitsiaq and Lille Malene can be done in a couple of hours.

The remnants of the Norse settlers can be found in the innermost fjord complexes near Nuuk. Find ruins of farms, stables, storehouses etc made of sandstone and blocks of granite, many up to 1,000 years old.

Nuuk is a good place for buying high quality art and craftwork. In 2012 Greenland's first shopping centre - Nuuk Center, opened. Kitchen utensils, clothing, hunting equipment, jewellery, toys and decorative items are all popular buys.

Menus offer many options including lamb, musk ox, fish and reindeer.
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships dock at the steamer dock in Nuuk. It is around a 30 minute walk over the hill into the town. Shuttle buses are sometimes offered.

Plans are underway to complete a new port by 2016.
