Overview Of The Port Of Lofoten Islands

About Lofoten Islands
Lofoten is an archipelago and a traditional district in the county of Nordland, Norway and lies within the Arctic Circle. Svolvær is the capital.

At Magic Ice in Svolvær, sculptures and installations made of ice are dramatically lit and presented together with sound, music and images, tell the story of nature, traditions and the life of the fisherman.

Vågan Church, known as “the Lofoten Cathedral” because of its size – was originally built in 1898 and has been recently restored.

Lofoten Golf Links is a 9 hole course by a white sand beach. It is possible to play 24 hours a day in the summer and enjoy views of the Midnight Sun.

Take a boat trip and see glacial formations, imposing cliffs and mountains around Leknes.

Other attractions include the Lofoten Viking Museum and Nusfjord, Norway's best preserved fishing village.

Hauklandstranda, around 15 minutes from Leknes, is widely regarded as "the most beautiful beach in Norway".

There is a large shopping mall in Leknes for all your gift and souvenir shopping.

Typical dishes here include lamb with cabbage, herring, 'fiskepudding' (fish pudding) and 'fiskekaker' (fish rissoles).
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships will either dock at Leknes Port or anchor and tender passengers ashore. There is a souvenir shop at the pier. It is around 4km to the centre of town.

Taxis are available and car hire can be booked at the pier.
