Overview Of The Port Of La Digue Island

About La Digue Island
La Digue is the third largest inhabited island of the Seychelles, lying east of Praslin and west of Felicite Island, in the Indian Ocean.

La Digue is known for it's stunning beaches. Anse Source D'Argent is a long stretch of soft white coral sands, flanked by spectacular granite boulders. Follow the pathways that lead away from the main beach to discover hidden coves. Anse Severe is secluded and perfect for snorkelling and swimming.

Veuve Nature Reserve is home to the rare Black Paradise Flycatcher and guided hiking trips are offered by the reserve, to discover the beauty of this island.

La Digue's tallest peak, Belle Vue is in the central part of the island, it's summit is more than 300m above sea level.

Diving, snorkelling and boat trips can be arranged. La Digue has a wide variety of underwater species including a myriad of fish, turtles, dolphins, rays and sharks as well as it being encircling by a coral reef on all but it's south east shore.

The Aldabra Giant Tortoise can be spotted all across the island. If you visit the L’Union Estate Plantation on the southern end of the island, they can be spotted enjoying the sun in their large pen here.

There are several gift shops on the island, most of them by the port, which offer souvenirs and gifts such as fresh vanilla beans grown on the island.

Traditional Creole dishes such as curry, fish, pork and rice as well as Western style meals, seafood, pasta and pizza can be found in local restaurants and cafes.
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships anchor and tender passengers ashore.

Bikes are the main mode of transport here and can be hired at the end of the pier. Ox carts are also available for hire but taxis, which are few and far between, are an expensive option.
