About Katakolon
Katakolon is a seaside town in the municipality of Pyrgos in western Elis, Greece. It is situated on a headland overlooking the Ionian Sea.

The town basically consists of an oceanfront walkway and one main street with shops and cafes.

Visitors usually head to Olympia (around 40 minutes drive from Katakolon). The Olympic Games originated here in 776 BC.

Local beaches are a short taxi ride away.

Silver and gold jewellery in classic Greek and modern designs, Greek worry beads, honey, olive oil, handicrafts and artwork are all popular buys.

Seafood dishes feature heavily on menus, along with stews, moussaka and baklava.
