Overview Of The Port Of Ile Saint Marie

About Ile Saint Marie
Île Sainte-Marie, (also known as Nosy Boraha) is an island off the east coast of Madagascar, an island country in the Indian Ocean.

The channel between Sainte-Marie island and Madagascar is a hot spot for whale watching.

Sainte Marie has many tracks to explore on foot.

Visit the oldest Christian church in Madagascar at the Baie des Forbans (built in 1837), and then continue to the pirate cemetery a little further towards the village of St Joseph.

Visit Endemika Zoo on the southern part of the island. It has several species of lemurs, chameleons and other endemic animals.

Take a boat trip to the nearby islands of Ile aux Nattes or Ile aux Sables.

The forest of Ikalalao is known for its many orchid and lemur species.

The lagoon's underwater fauna is preserved as a natural heritage making it an excellent diving site.

The best swimming beaches are located on the northern and western coasts, as well as on the islet aux Nattes.

Embroidered tablecloths, blouses, sculpted wood, leatherwork, zebu-horn jewels and paper decorated with dried flowers make good gifts.

The island is known for it's fresh fish and seafood but local restaurants also offer a good mix of cuisines such as Cajun, Creole, Caribbean, Indian and International dishes.
