About Harwich
Harwich is a town in Essex, England and is located on the coast with the North Sea to the east.

Harwich, an historic maritime port has many associations with famous characters, including Christopher Jones, Master of the Mayflower who sailed to America in 1620.

Other attractions include the circular Redoubt Fort, built in 1808, the Electric Palace Cinema, the oldest unaltered purpose built cinema in Britain and the Mayflower exhibition on the Pier.

The neighbouring town of Dovercourt, a 5 minute drive away has a small shopping centre. It's beaches have been awarded Blue Flags and there is a boating lake, roller skating rink, putting green, beach cafe, child's play area and amusement arcade along the seafront.

Further afield in Ipswich, Christchurch Mansion is a 16th century house in a historic park featuring an excellent collection of paintings by Gainsborough and Constable.

In Colchester (Britain's oldest recorded town), the Colchester Castle Museum is an award winning museum. The castle, built in 1096 was the largest ever built by the Normans, and constructed on foundations of the Roman Temple of Claudius, which can still be seen today.

Other places of interest to visit include the ancient wool town of Lavenham, Sutton Hoo Saxon Burial site and Constable Country, made famous by the painter, John Constable.

Explore London by double decker bus. These hop-on/hop-off buses stop at over 80 places taking in many local attractions.

There are endless shopping opportunities in London, including the famous names of Harrods, Fortnum and Mason and Harvey Nichols.

There are a huge range of choice when it comes to dining in London. From traditional 'pub grub' and fish and chips to a wide range of International cuisine.
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships dock at Harwich International Port. Facilities here (and at adjacent ferry terminal) include money exchange, cafe, Internet Cafe, Cash Machine, telephones and toilets.

Taxis are readily available outside the terminal.

The Harwich Internation Railway Station is located at the port, direct services to London take between 80-100 minutes.

There is a Tourist Information Centre not far from the port.
