About Gothenburg
Gothenburg is a city located on the west coast of Sweden, in Scandinavia.

The fish market - Feskekôrka is housed in a building called the Fish Church, due to it resembling a Gothic church.

Nordstan is the largest shopping centre in Scandinavia, with approximately 180 shops.

The centre of town is a lively mix of boutiques, cafes and cinemas.

Kungsportsavenyn or “The Avenue” stretches from Götaplatsen to Kungsportsplatsen. Here you will find the theatre, concert hall and library. See the famous statue "Poseidon" rising above Götaplatsen Square.

The Gothenburg Museum of Art features late 19th century Nordic art.

Gothenburg has many parks and nature reserves including Kungsparken, which surrounds the canal that circles the city centre, Slottsskogen, which has a free "open" zoo, Hisingsparken, which is Gothenburg's biggest park and Gothenburg Botanical Garden featuring around 16,000 species of plant and tree.

Boat tours on the famous Paddan canal boats take visitors through the city via the moat and harbour. Bus tours or hiring a bike are other options for city sightseeing.

Liseberg is one of Sweden's largest amusement parks and is located a short distance away from Gothenburg.

Not far away is Tjoloholm Manor, an Elizabethan styled manor house and one of Sweden's top attractions.

Traditional Swedish dishes include pea soup (Artsoppa), pork with mashed carrots and potatoes (Rotmos med Flask), boiled salmon (Inkokt Lax) and pickled herring (Inlagd sill).

A Smörgåsbord is an assortment of food featuring a variety of dishes such as herring, salmon, cheeses, pickled vegetables and a range of hot food sometimes followed by dessert.
Cruise Terminal
Smaller cruise ships can dock in the inner harbour, within walking distance of the city centre. Larger ships may need to dock in the outer harbour area, around 20 minutes ride into the centre of Gothenburg.

Cruise ships usually organise shuttle buses from the outer harbour area to take passengers into town.

Tourist information is available both at the pier as well as in the Nordstan Shopping Centre in town.
