About Gdynia
Gdynia is a city in Poland on the south coast of the Baltic Sea.

The main street of Gdynia - Swietojanska, has many buildings dating back to the 1920/30's. There are numerous shops, cafes, bars and restaurants here also. Popular buys here and in Gdsank include linens, crystal, amber and silver.

Okret Muzeum ORP Blyskawica is a former WWII destroyer in WWII, now a Naval museum.

Dar Pomorza - Oddzial Centralnego Muzeum Morskiego - the well preserved sailing ship, is now a museum. ORP Blyskawica is anchor next to Dar Pomorza.

Muzeum Miasta Gdyni, traces the history of Gdynia with lots of photos and displays.

The Oceanographic Museum and Sea Aquarium is located at the harbour area.

Many visitors head to nearby Gdansk, around 45 minutes drive away.

Museums here include the Historical, Art and Maritime Museums.

St Mary's Church is huge and is able to accommodate 25,000 people.

The Old Town is full of 'olde worlde' charm, with many small boutiques, cafes, restaurants and picturesque buildings.

Oliwa Cathedral's architecture is stunning, the interior is dominated by the organ over the main entrance.

Many tourist attractions, shops and restaurants are to be found on the pedestrian only Dluga Targ, one of the main shopping streets in the city.

Sopot lies between the Tri-City Landscape Park and the many sandy beaches of the Bay of Gdansk. Monte Casino Street, a pedestrian promenade, is the centre of town.

Traditional dishes include 'baranina' (roasted or grilled lamb), 'bigos' (stew of sauerkraut and meat and cabbage), 'gołąbki' (cabbage leaves stuffed with spiced minced meat and rice or with mushrooms and rice served with sour cream or tomato sauce) and 'kaczka z jabłkami' (roast duck with apples).
Cruise Terminal
Some smaller ships may be able to dock at Oliwskie Pier, in the New Port of Gdansk around 4 miles from the town centre.

Most cruise ships however dock at the pier around a 10 minute walk from the centre of Gdynia. Gdansk is around 45 minutes drive away.

Taxis are available on the quayside outside of the terminal. Buses and trains are also available.
